Old desk and plastic cards

I have a beautiful old desk. Sadly it's normally quite cluttered, just like this image shows, but this is where I spend all of my computer time. I love this desk even though it's not practical in any way. It's old and has character. I like that.

 

I just ordered all the forms I need to get approved to get a driver's license. Again. This is the third time because we've let it run out twice before. I could've had a license for ten years by now, but nope. Hopefully third time's the charm? I've gotten to the point in my life where I'd really like to have that piece of plastic in my wallet, even though I don't really need a car of my own. Just to be able to drive one when called for.

Dreams of Gods and Monsters

I took this picture with my new camera, sent it over to my phone directly from the camera and then instagramed it from there. That's pretty cool. Lots to learn about my new toy! Also, I love how excited I get about books. This book is the final book in a trilogy that I have become obsessed with, and I was all dfkjghfgjkhfkghj about the prospect of getting to start reading it today. So so good.

 

Real Madrid also gave me a small heartattack today. 2-0 loss against Dortmund away, but still through to the semifinals of the CL. Thank lawd and San Iker for that!

New camera

I bought a new camera today. Now I just have to learn how to use it! Everyone's gotta start somewhere, right? I'm starting with a Samsung NX1000. I don't know if it's good or bad, but it's a camera, and I know nothing of cameras. This gives me something to play with. My cat Safira is going to be my first and foremost victim while I try out all the different options.

First post

There's always pressure to make a first post meaningful and special. But this isn't my first blog post, not even close. I've been blogging for years, on and off. This just happens to be my latest "project", and it's just for me. If you want to read it, great, but it's not a requirement. I want to blog again because I love looking back on old entries and remember things I otherwise would've forgotten.

So I'm making this first post meaningful to me, by reminding myself of a great day last year. October 15th, and me and my friend were watching Germany beat Sweden in the World Cup qualifying game in Stockholm. Great match, good fun, and I channeled my inner Xabi Alonso during halftime.

 So there we are. A new blog. Hopefully there will be more to come here.
